Merck Gruppe - MSD Sharp & Dohme in Boxmeer, Netherlands seeks a Director of Bioprocess Technology Solutions (Site Support) to lead cross-site vaccine processing technology and transfers. You will drive strategic process improvements, manage a ~25-person BTS team, and collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and regulatory functions to ensure robust product supply.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in technology / engineering.
• 10+ years leading complex bioprocess teams in regulated environments.
• Experience managing managers, developing talent, and coaching growth.
• Strong organizational and stakeholder management across sites and countries.
• Contribute to technical strategy and long-term capability building.
• Excellent English; Dutch preferred; on-site presence in Boxmeer 4 days/week.

Responsibilities

• Manage BTS team (~25 employees) and site activities for Boxmeer, De Bilt, and Cologne.
• Lead strategic process improvement for the vaccine portfolio.
• Provide direction, prioritization, and accountability for site-level and cross-site activities.
• Align local site activities with global BTS strategy and priorities.
• Maintain communication with EU Lead BTS and key stakeholders.
• Collaborate with R&D to develop and refine processes.
• Drive upstream, downstream, and FPU improvements.
• Resolve manufacturing and supply issues impacting vaccines.
• Support scale-up and ensure robustness during large-scale production.
• Advise on equipment modifications for process changes and new product development.
• Evaluate new technologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Sponsor structured problem-solving using MPS tools.
• Support product transfers and site-to-site implementation.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, and EHS requirements.
• Manage, coach, and develop BTS personnel; build new talent.
• Monitor external trends and pursue innovation opportunities.
• Support external talent scouting and PhD collaborations (Wageningen).
• Provide scientific input to GSC on investments and direction.
• Travel as required to support BTS across sites.
