Job summary

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) seeks a Director of Inspectorate (DIR/INS) to lead the INS in on-site verification under the Chemical Weapons Convention. The role shapes strategic priorities, oversees training and resources, and coordinates with partner offices for global inspections.

The successful candidate will drive operational readiness, risk management and continuous improvement of verification activities across diverse environments, with emphasis on safety

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Science, Engineering, International Security or Relations or related field.
• A first-level university degree plus two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.

Responsibilities

• Executive management: lead INS with vision, priorities and accountability.
• Strategic direction: set policies, priorities and QA for verification delivery.
• Operational readiness: ensure readiness for CI, IAU and contingency missions.
• Partnerships: build cross-divisional collaboration with TS, VER and OSMs.
• Innovation and knowledge: sponsor projects and capture lessons for improvement.
