Job summary

Core Laboratories in the Netherlands seeks an Inspector I to perform basic petrochemical inspection of vessels and tanks, taking samples for laboratory analysis and recording results.

You will work under supervision, follow predefined procedures, maintain equipment, and assist senior inspectors while complying with safety rules and local regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school / secondary education or equivalent.
• Physically fit with ability to lift up to 20 kg.
• Good verbal and written knowledge of local language (and basic English for some locations).
• Ability to perform basic calculations and use MS Windows/Office.
• Valid driving license and satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Carries-out activities in accordance with client instructions and company procedures.
• Attends safety training and passes examinations as required.
• Performs visual cleanliness inspection of vessels, rail cars or shore tanks.
• Verifies accuracy of measurement equipment and maintains it.
• Determines quantity by measuring bulk, density, temperature, and metering.
• Performs sampling of petrochemical fluids and labels/stores samples properly.
• Completes predefined inspection reports on the computer.
• Assists more senior Inspectors with inspection tasks.

Job Purpose Performs basic petrochemical inspection – occasionally under supervision, depending on assignment – of vessel, rail/road cars or shores tank according precisely predefined procedures. Inspection relates to measurement of petrochemical fluids (may include dry cargo for certain locations) and taking samples for laboratory analysis

Key Accountabilities

• Carries-out activities in accordance with individual client instructions, Saybolt Standard procedures, Global Safety Manual, risk assessment, local standards/safety rules and Core Laboratories/Saybolt company policies
• Attends training and pass appropriate examinations in petroleum, chemical and gas inspection procedures, hazardous materials transportations and other safety training required by applicable regulations
• Performs visual cleanliness inspection of vessel, rail/road cars or shore tanks
• Verify the accuracy of measurement equipment and maintain equipment in proper working order
• Determines quantity by measuring physical fluid bulk, density, temperature and metering
• Performs sampling of petrochemical fluids as per international or other standards and their correct labeling and storage
• Completes predefined inspection reports/forms on the computer
• Assists more senior Inspectors with their inspection tasks where required

Qualifications

• Minimum high school / secondary education or equivalent
• Physically fit which includes lifting items up to 20 kg (or in accordance with local regulations) – see “Other Information”
• Good verbal and written knowledge of local language (and basic English language skills for certain locations)
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (e.g. add, subtract, multiply, divide, interpolate and compute ratio and percentage in all units of measurement)
• Basic computer skills (MS Windows, Word, Excel, company systems)
• Valid driving license and satisfactory driving record

Other Information

The job requires employee to inspect tanks which includes working at heights and confined spaces. Employee should be mobile (walk, climb, carry), rely on senses (sight, talk, hear, smell) and be able to lift items up to 20 kg (or in accordance with local regulations). The employee will be required to work irregular hours / shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays) and work away from their base office

Addendum

After about 1 year of Sampler, employee can promote to Inspector I.

When passing the exam for Inspector I, you are capable to independently take samples on board of a (smaller) vessel and shore tanks. Taking care of reporting according the systems used. (basic Inspection duties).
