Job summary

Canon Medical Systems Europe seeks a Director Financial Accounting to lead the European Accounting Department, ensuring accurate financial operations, treasury management, and robust internal controls. The role partners with SVP & CFO across Europe, audits, tax authorities and external auditors.

You will drive month-end closings, statutory reporting, multi-entity accounting and continuous process improvements while mentoring financial professionals in a dynamic international environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Extensive leadership in international accounting or finance.
• Strong expertise in financial accounting, statutory reporting, treasury and payroll.
• Experience managing audits and multi-entity accounting operations.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Accounting Department, ensuring accurate financial operations and team development.

• Manage treasury, cash flow, currency activities and payment processes.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, VAT, tax legislation, payroll accounting.

• Deliver timely financial reporting, forecasts and analyses to SVP & CFO and Canon Inc.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.
• Partner with Finance, HR and business stakeholders on cross-functional projects.

The role

As Director Financial Accounting, you lead the Accounting Department of our European Headquarters and oversee financial accounting, treasury and reporting activities across the organization. You ensure accurate financial reporting, effective cash management, statutory compliance and robust internal controls while supporting the business with reliable financial insights.

You are a trusted advisor to the Senior Vice President & CFO and work closely with Finance colleagues, CGCs, external auditors, tax authorities and other stakeholders across Europe.

What will you do?

• Lead the Accounting Department, ensuring accurate financial operations, effective resource planning and team development.
• Oversee month-end, quarter-end and year-end closings, statutory reporting and financial statement preparation.
• Manage treasury, cash flow, foreign currency activities and payment processes across the organization.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, VAT, tax legislation, payroll accounting and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and act as the main contact for auditors, tax authorities and banking partners.
• Deliver timely financial reporting, forecasts and analyses to the Senior Vice President & CFO and Canon Inc. (CINC).
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, internal controls and financial governance.
• Partner with Finance, HR and business stakeholders on accounting, treasury and cross-functional projects.

What do you bring?

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Extensive leadership experience within an international accounting or finance environment.
• Strong expertise in financial accounting, statutory reporting, treasury, payroll accounting, VAT and tax compliance.
• Experience managing audits, financial reporting and complex accounting operations across multiple entities.
• Experience in FP&A is a plus
• Strong analytical and leadership skills with the ability to coach teams and drive process improvements.
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
• High level of integrity, accuracy and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic international environment.
