Teradata in the Netherlands seeks a Senior Product Manager to guide the strategy and execution for the core database engine. You will shape the roadmap for the optimizer, execution runtime, workload management, and Global Planner, and own how the engine performs on native storage, cloud storage, and open table formats.

This role sits at the intersection of database engine and AI, guiding GenAI/ML integration inside the engine, and partnering with senior engineering leaders across the US, Europe,

Qualifications

• 15+ years in databases or distributed data systems with product leadership or staff engineering experience
• Deep understanding of query planning, optimization, andMPP trade-offs
• Strong SQL expertise and opinions on language design and compatibility
• Hands-on performance mindset: reading plans, benchmarking, root cause analysis
• Working knowledge of LLMs and AI agents and their impact on DB design
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, and lakehouse architectures
• Advanced degree as a plus in related fields

Responsabilités

• Define and own engine strategy and multi-year roadmap across core components
• Lead AI agent-driven redesign of engine components for faster, autonomous performance
• Oversee optimizer, execution, and workload management, with cost models and safe planning
• Own benchmark suite, regression gates, and performance KPIs
• Own Iceberg/Delta Lake interface improvements for open formats and stats automation
• Design SQL features that simplify complex queries while preserving power and compatibility
