Job summary

Hymonic B.V. in Rotterdam seeks a motivated Design Engineering Intern to support detailed mechanical design of ammonia cracking systems. You will model a ceramic-metal composite reactor using Siemens NX and generate production-ready drawings and order documentation.

You will adapt geometries to vendor/manufacturing constraints, assist procurement, and gain hands-on experience designing first-of-a-kind hardware in the hydrogen economy, with direct impact from day one.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Strong experience with professional 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD) and familiarity with Siemens NX.
• Exposure to ceramic or composite material systems is advantageous but not required.
• Hands-on, proactive attitude suited to a fast-paced startup environment.
• Fluency in English; Dutch or German are a plus.

Hymonic is a Rotterdam-based clean energy company tackling one of the greatest challenges of the energy transition: the high cost of hydrogen (H₂) logistics. We design and deliver modular plants that produce high-purity hydrogen on-site from ammonia (NH₃). By converting ammonia—a high-density energy carrier—directly at the point of use, we reduce hydrogen costs by ~50%, enabling the decarbonization of \"hard-to-abate\" sectors like heavy-duty transport, maritime, and industrial manufacturing.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated Design Engineering Intern to support the detailed mechanical design of our ammonia cracking systems. You will work on a novel ceramic-metal composite system — a technically challenging, first-of-a-kind component — and your work will directly feed into production drawings and procurement.

What You’ll Work On

• 3D CAD modelling of a ceramic-metal composite reactor system based on an existing design concept, using Siemens NX


• Adapting ceramic and metal component geometries to meet vendor and manufacturing constraints


• Generating production-ready drawings, 3D models, and order documentation


• Supporting procurement activities for engineered components

What We’re Looking For

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field


• Solid experience with professional 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, or similar); experience with Siemens NX is a strong plus


• Exposure to ceramic or composite material systems is advantageous but not required


• A hands-on, proactive attitude suited to a fast-paced startup environment


• Fluency in English (written and verbal); Dutch is a plus; German is a strong plus
