Job summary

TNO in The Hague invites applications for the role of Deputy Research Manager for the Compact Radar Systems research group within the Defence, Safety & Security unit. You will work closely with the Research Manager to balance market needs with knowledge development, while ensuring an inspiring and productive environment for researchers.

You will oversee staff development, recruitment, strategy, portfolio planning, cross-department cooperation, project monitoring, and facility management, acting

Qualifications

• A relevant university-level education and the ability to grasp what the professionals in your team are working on daily.
• You are a people-oriented manager in a high-tech R&D environment.
• Experience in managing and supervising knowledge professionals for demanding clients.
• Familiarity with Ministry of Defence projects and a screening certificate (VGB-B) is preferred.
• Good command of Dutch and English.

Responsibilities

• Staff development, recruitment, and shaping the department's strategy and portfolio.
• Ensure optimal cooperation with other departments and monitor projects and results.
• Oversee facility management and create a productive work environment.
• Act as strategic sparring partner and deputy to the Research Manager.
• Support growth of the department and onboarding for new hires.
