Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in radar remote sensing within the MS3 group. You will develop and lead a research program on active phased-array radar systems for remote sensing, shaping its long-term strategy and securing external funding.

The role includes teaching and supervising PhD and MSc students in a collaborative, diverse environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience in radar remote sensing or related areas such as weather radar or Doppler polarimetry.
• Experience with experimental systems, field measurements, and real-world datasets.
• Strong publication record in internationally recognised peer‑reviewed journals and conferences.
• Ability to acquire competitive research funding and develop successful proposals.
• Genuine interest in teaching, supervision, and mentoring students and early-career researchers.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build collaborations across academia, industry, and government.
• Excellent command of English in an international university setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pioneering research in active phased-array radar systems for remote sensing.
• Develop and lead an independent research line in radar remote sensing.
• Define a long-term scientific vision and translate it into innovative projects.
• Collaborate across disciplines to advance both fundamental knowledge and practical radar applications.
• Build and supervise a team of PhD candidates and MSc students; mentor junior researchers.
• Establish partnerships with industry and public organisations and develop research proposals for external funding.
• Contribute to Bachelor’s and Master’s courses in radar systems and remote sensing.
