Job summary

Apex Systems in the Netherlands is seeking a Data Center Support Technician to provide on-site escort for contractors and to perform rounds, initial equipment assessments, and basic monitoring under supervision.

Responsibilities include safety compliance, emergency monitoring, UPS and battery maintenance, sensor calibration, and EPMS familiarity across data center campuses. Work is performed under established SOPs and security policies.

Qualifications

• Experience in data center operations or similar.
• Ability to follow SOPs for critical environments.
• Ability to perform basic monitoring of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide escort support for third-party personnel on site.
• Perform rounds and initial assessments of equipment with supervision.
• Monitor maintenance and operations of equipment with supervision.
• Assist in emergency monitoring and respond per EOPs.
• Follow safety and security procedures during tasks.
• Take daily readings of electrical equipment (temperatures, voltages, currents).
• Follow SOPs for critical environment planned work activities.
• Energize cabinets in colo facilities.
• Support UPS and battery preventive maintenance (quarterly/annually).
• Assist in troubleshooting and calibration of sensors.
• Support electrical infrastructures across data center campuses.
• Experience with building management systems (EPMS).
• RPP shutdowns and PDU power meter replacement tasks.

Job description

• Provides escort support for third-party contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, and service providers on site.
• Works on tasks (e.g., making rounds, initial assessments on equipment performance) as assigned with supervision.
• Perform basic monitoring of the performance of maintenance and operations of equipment (e.g., electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety) within the data center with supervision
• Safely assists in providing emergency monitoring and response to various abnormal conditions with supervision, utilizing emergency operating procedures (EOPs).
• Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work and comply with all physical security procedures and policies
• Take daily operational readings of all electrical equipment through routine rounds/log taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
• Ability to follow operating procedures (SOPs) for critical environment planned work activities
• Energize a cabinet in a Colo
• Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) preventative maintenance quarterly and annually
• Battery preventative maintenance
• Fundamental understanding of the National Electrical Code
• Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work and comply with all physical security procedures and policies
• Assist in the troubleshooting, repair and replacement of instrument sensors and calibration.
• Support electrical infrastructures throughout datacenter campus ranging from a single, large-capacity facility to several smaller ones
• Experience with building management systems (EPMS)
• Remote Power Panel (RPP) shutdown of 1 source. Critical Load is still supplied through one source ("N").
• PDU shutdown for power meter replacement.
