Job summary

Digital Realty in Amsterdam is seeking a Site Engineer III to ensure the stable operation of critical data center assets and to support customer equipment availability. You will optimize infrastructure efficiency, uphold SLAs, and lead strategic planning to minimize unplanned maintenance and failures.

The role includes supervising maintenance activities, coordinating with subcontractors, handling on-call incidents, and driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Technical education or training in Mission Critical Operations is required.
• Vocational level education in a technical field or site engineering position is expected.
• Experience with electrotechnical and/or mechanical systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with fire detection/suppression systems is advantageous.
• Knowledge of conveyor/elevator maintenance and technical security systems is a plus.
• HVAC mechanical and/or electrical literacy is desirable.

Role

The role is critical for sustaining the excellence of data center operations. As an result of their work, the Site Engineer III will:

• Ensure the stable and reliable operation of critical assets, supporting customer equipment availability.
• Optimize infrastructure efficiency and uphold agreed customer SLAs.
• Lead strategic planning and project management efforts to minimize unplanned maintenance and failures.
• Take responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the data center facility.
• Oversee maintenance and repair activities, including coordination with subcontractors.
• Manage on-call duties and incident resolution as needed.
• Document and analyze progress, issues, and outcomes, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide comprehensive supervision, training, mentoring, and guidance to site engineers, fostering their professional development, and contributing to team development and recruitment efforts.

What You’ll Need

• Technical education / training certification in the field of ‘Mission Critical’ Operations.
• Education to a vocational level in a technical field and/or site engineering position
• Skilled in maintenance of electrotechnical and/or mechanical systems
• Preferably skilled in the maintenance of fire detection and suppression systems
• Novice in maintenance of conveyor technique (elevators), and/or technical security systems (CCTV, Access Control)
