Job summary

A leading online brokerage firm in Amsterdam is seeking a Database Administrator to manage and optimize MariaDB databases. The ideal candidate should have a degree in Computer Science or Business Informatics, strong knowledge of MariaDB/MySQL, and excellent analytical skills. Responsibilities

• Administration, maintenance, and optimization of our MariaDB databases
• Ensuring data integrity, availability, and security
• Performing performance analyses and optimizations
• Implementing backup and recovery strategies
• Supporting the planning and execution of database migrations
• Collaborating with developers to optimize database queries and structures
• Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues
• Documenting database architectures and processes
• Automating database installation and maintenance tasks

What we want from you

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification
• Strong knowledge of MariaDB/MySQL and experience in administering relational databases
• Experience with SQL and database design
• Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies as well as performance tuning
• Experience with Ansible is a plus, but not required
• Linux knowledge is an advantage
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python) is a plus
• Strong team spirit, analytical thinking, and a structured working approach
• Good communication skills in English
