The Position
As part of our growing team, we are looking for a talented Database Administrator / Platform Engineer to contribute to impactful, data-driven projects in complex IT environments. You will play a key role in ensuring the availability, security, and performance of critical database and infrastructure platforms while working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
As a Database Administrator / Platform Engineer, your main tasks will include:
- Managing, maintaining, and optimizing PostgreSQL and Oracle database environments
- Monitoring database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing improvements
- Performing backups, recovery procedures, upgrades, migrations, and patch management
- Ensuring database security, availability, and reliability through best practices and proactive monitoring
- Supporting developers and end users with database-related challenges and technical guidance
- Maintaining and improving monitoring solutions across databases and infrastructure platforms
- Collaborating with infrastructure, security, and development teams to improve platform performance and reliability
- Contributing to infrastructure and cloud-related projects, automation initiatives, and platform modernization efforts
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree (HBO) or equivalent level of working and thinking in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL database administration and performance tuning
- Experience with PostgreSQL ecosystem tools such as EFM, PEM, and Barman
- Hands-on experience with backup management, recovery, upgrades, and database migrations
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms
- Experience with Oracle Database administration
- Good knowledge of Linux environments, preferably Red Hat Linux
- Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible and/or Puppet
- Experience with monitoring solutions such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or similar tools
- Understanding of DevOps methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, CI/CD, and Git-based workflows
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills in English; Dutch is considered a plus
- Proactive mindset and a strong sense of ownership and responsibility
