Job summary

ALTEN Netherlands is seeking a Database Administrator / Platform Engineer to ensure highly available PostgreSQL and Oracle environments, with emphasis on performance tuning, backups, and security. You will work with DevOps practices, automation tools, and cross-functional teams to modernize platforms and improve monitoring.

The role requires strong Linux skills, experience with Ansible/Puppet, and English communication; Dutch is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL database administration and tuning.
• Experience with PostgreSQL ecosystem tools (EFM, PEM, Barman).
• Hands-on backup, recovery, upgrade, and migration experience.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL security, auth, and authorization.
• Experience with Oracle Database administration.
• Strong Linux knowledge (Red Hat preferred).
• Automation/config mgmt tools like Ansible/Puppet.
• Monitoring with Grafana/Prometheus/Splunk or similar.
• DevOps with Scrum/Kanban/CI/CD/Git workflows.
• Excellent English communication; Dutch a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL and Oracle environments.
• Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, implement improvements.
• Perform backups, recovery procedures, upgrades, migrations, and patching.
• Ensure security, availability, and reliability with best practices.
• Support developers with database guidance and issues.
• Maintain and improve monitoring across databases and infra platforms.
• Collaborate with infra, security, and dev teams to boost performance.
• Contribute to infrastructure and cloud projects, automation, and modernization.
