Job summary

About the Role:

An established financial services organisation is seeking a Senior Insights Data Scientist to join a high-performing Financial Economic Crime (FEC) analytics team.

This role focuses on transforming large-scale transaction monitoring data into actionable insights and automated analytical solutions that support the detection and prevention of financial crime. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will leverage advanced analytics, software engineering practices and business knowledge to improve transaction monitoring effectiveness and optimise rule performance at scale.

You will play a key role in designing analytical frameworks, building production-ready solutions and enabling data-driven decision making across business and operational stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Advanced Analytics & Data Science

• Develop analytical models and decision logic to support transaction monitoring optimisation.
• Identify high-priority customer segments, parameters and rules for tuning and enhancement.
• Convert complex business problems into scalable analytical solutions.
• Deliver end-to-end data science projects from discovery through deployment.

Data Products & Automation

• Build and maintain automated analytical pipelines.
• Design and develop production-ready dashboards and decision-support tools.
• Create scalable solutions supporting investigation and monitoring workflows.
• Drive automation through analytics to improve operational efficiency.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with stakeholders across Business, Technology and Operations teams.
• Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Translate business requirements into actionable analytical deliverables.

Technical Leadership

• Mentor and support junior and mid-level Data Scientists.
• Contribute to technical direction, standards and best practices.
• Champion robust engineering practices including testing, version control and deployment processes.

Required Experience

• 7+ years of Data Science, Analytics or Machine Learning experience.
• Strong experience with:
• PySpark
• Databricks
• Power BI
• Experience building production-ready solutions and automated analytical workflows.
• Strong knowledge of software development best practices.
• Experience with:
• Testing Frameworks
• Agile Delivery
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to uncover business needs and translate them into data-driven solutions.
• Fluent Dutch and English.
• Financial Crime, AML or Transaction Monitoring environments.
• Banking or Financial Services sector experience.
• Advanced statistical analysis and modelling.
• Coaching and mentoring experience.
