Job summary

ING Netherlands seeks an Experienced Data Governance & Protection Expert to strengthen the Safe Data team. You will translate privacy requirements into clear responsibilities, controls and practical working instructions, while supporting business objectives and regulatory compliance.

You will guide data protection practices, assess privacy risks, and collaborate with Legal, Compliance and global teams to ensure effective governance and execution across ING’s operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Law.
• Demonstrable GDPR and privacy regulation expertise with relevant certifications.
• Experience translating regulatory requirements into operational processes, controls and practical business solutions.
• Strong organizational sensitivity and ability to balance regulatory, business and operational considerations.
• At least 7 years of experience in data protection, privacy, compliance or risk management.
• Experience operating in a highly regulated environment, preferably within financial services.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in Dutch and English.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice and guidance on data protection and privacy matters across ING Netherlands.
• Interpret relevant legislation and translate into practical requirements, controls and hands-on work instructions.
• Identify, assess and help mitigate privacy-related risks.
• Contribute to key data protection processes, including risk assessments, data subject rights requests, and breach management.
• Support awareness and continuous improvement of privacy practices across ING.
