I am collaborating with a very exciting, incredibly well backed, start up, Biotech company with offices in Amsterdam and Zurich

They are building a cutting-edge data platform and developing a multimodal foundation model that leverages complex datasets to improve cancer diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes.

My client are looking for a Data Engineering Lead (ML). They are looking for a senior technical leader to own and scale our large-scale data pipelines powering cutting-edge multimodal LLMs for the medical domain. This role is primarily focused on data engineering and infrastructure, with close collaboration with ML researchers.

You’ll lead the design and operation of ingestion, synthetic data generation, and filtering systems; ensure data quality and integrity at scale; and guide long-term architectural decisions. You will manage and mentor engineers while remaining hands-on in building and optimizing distributed data systems.

Key Requirements

Proven leadership of data engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, and developing talent.
Experience owning large-scale data pipeline architecture, including ingestion, synthetic data generation for LLMs, and data-quality experimentation.
Strong programming skills in Python; deep expertise with distributed frameworks (Ray, Spark).
Experience with hashing, deduplication, chunking, and other data primitives.

Nice to Have

DAG orchestration in Dagster (preferred), Airflow, or Prefect.
Knowledge of data-quality/validation frameworks and monitoring tools.
Understanding of ML fundamentals to collaborate effectively with research teams.
