Job summary

Monks, a global data-driven marketing technology firm, is hiring a Data Engineer in the Netherlands to design, build, and maintain data pipelines and cloud infrastructure. You will contribute to scalable data architectures and partner with analytics teams to unlock business insights.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in data engineering or data science, strong Python and SQL, and experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP). Dutch language skills are required for client work in the Netherlands.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Masters in a quantitative field or related discipline.
• 5+ years of working experience in data science or data engineering or related field.
• Associates or Professional Cloud Certification such as GCP Data Engineer or Data Architect.
• Proficient in Python and SQL.
• Experience with authenticating and authorising API requests (OAuth, API keys).
• Solid understanding of data structures and databases.
• Knowledge of data modeling tools like dbt or Dataform.
• Experience with data warehousing and ETL using Redshift or BigQuery.
• Awareness of data privacy principles and best practices.
• Fluent English communication and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop data pipelines across AWS and GCP.
• Automate end-to-end ETL processes for data integration and transformation.
• Design and implement data models and data warehouses.
• Create data transformation recipes for warehousing readiness.
• Maintain documentation for data models, schemas, and metadata.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure timely data availability.
• Collaborate with data science team to integrate ML models and Gen-AI apps.
• Apply data literacy to demonstrate business value of technical data.
• Communicate progress and findings to technical and non-technical teams.
• Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, both independently and in teams.
