Medior/Senior Data Engineer | Take ownership of your work
I’m working with an international product company operating within the digital entertainment space. They combine the energy and flexibility of a scale-up with an established international customer base.
They’re looking for a Medior/Senior Data Engineer who can take ownership of the company’s data engineering domain. You’ll be the only dedicated Data Engineer, working independently while being part of a social and supportive backend team.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing, building and maintaining ETL workflows, Airflow pipelines and data services
- Taking end-to-end ownership of data quality across core datasets and pipelines
- Improving data models, storage architecture and query performance
- Maintaining and extending distributed systems in production
- Identifying improvements and independently deciding what needs attention
- Supporting engineering and non-technical teams with data-related challenges
- Working with product and business stakeholders to prioritise the data roadmap
- Maintaining strong software and data engineering standards
The environment
- Python and Scala
- Airflow, Kafka and ClickHouse
- GCP, Docker and Kubernetes
- SQL, NoSQL and OLAP technologies
- GitHub, CircleCI, ArgoCD and Ansible
- Superset and other primarily open-source tools
Who would suit this role?
- You have 3–5 years of hands‑on Data Engineering experience
- You’ve worked with large-scale data systems and distributed pipelines
- You’re confident with Python and/or Scala
- You understand concepts such as replication, sharding, consistency, scaling and idempotency
- You can work independently and take full ownership without needing constant direction
- You’re communicative, social and comfortable working across different departments
- You can adapt when priorities change and enjoy solving problems as you go
- You’ve ideally worked in a startup, scale-up or similarly fast-moving product environment
- You’re fluent in English
What’s on offer?
- Hybrid working with three office days per week
- Two weeks of working abroad each year after your first seven months
- Fresh breakfast and lunch provided at the office
- Travel allowance, pension and company laptop
- Plenty of autonomy and direct influence over the future of the data platform
This would suit someone who likes having real ownership, but still wants friendly people around them to exchange ideas, solve problems and occasionally get a little too competitive during a team's game night.
