Job summary

Clear is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead on-site mechanical site execution for hyperscale data centre projects in Amsterdam. You will manage installation, testing, and coordination of chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAH units, piping, and fire protection, working with electrical and commissioning teams to drive performance and quality.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree with 5+ years in data centre HVAC, strong ASHRAE and BMS knowledge, and experience supervising

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical engineering and HVAC installation within major data centre or industrial projects.
• Strong operational expertise in data centre thermal management, chilled water systems, air handling, and fire suppression.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE guidelines, piping standards, and MEP coordination workflows.
• Experience supervising mechanical subcontractors and executing hydrostatic pressure testing.
• Solid grasp of BMS, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics in mission-critical environments.
• Excellent analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
• Valid EU passport and ability to work on-site in Amsterdam, NL.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical engineering installations for hyperscale data centre projects.
• Supervise installation, pressure testing, and flushing of chilled water systems and piping networks.
• Coordinate deployment of CRAC/CRAH, chillers, and heat rejection systems.
• Ensure adherence to drawings, ASHRAE standards, and local codes.
• Conduct quality inspections and witness mechanical tests.
• Collaborate with electrical, commissioning, and client teams.
• Resolve installation clashes and thermal performance bottlenecks.
• Maintain documentation, inspection reports, and test sign-off logs.
