Job description

CBRE manages some of the most critical data center infrastructure in the world. At our Middenmeer facility in Noord-Holland, we keep hyperscale operations running with our dedicated team. We are looking for a hands-on Data Centre Technician to join the on-site team. This is a generalist technician role with a clear electrical focus: you will spend most of your time on electrical systems, from high-voltage systems and UPS to switchgear, busbar, and power monitoring. You will also support broader facility tasks as part of a multidisciplinary operations crew. With your technical insight, you ensure that all work is carried out safely, accurately, and in accordance with applicable standards.

What You Will Do
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems, including UPS units, generators, MV/LV switchgear, busbar trunking, PDUs, and automatic transfer switches.
  • Respond to faults and alarms, diagnose root causes, and carry out corrective repairs in line with established safe-isolation and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
  • Perform daily site inspections of electrical plant and auxiliary systems, logging findings and escalating anomalies promptly.
  • Support commissioning, decommissioning, and change-management activities under permit-to-work controls.
  • Work alongside specialist contractors during planned outages, overseeing compliance with CBRE procedures and the Master Service Agreement.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records, completing all required documentation in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Assist with general facility and mechanical tasks as required, contributing to the overall reliability of the data center.
  • Complete all mandatory training, including electrical safety, first aid, and site-specific inductions.
What You Will Need
  • A recognized technical qualification in electrical engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience gained through a formal apprenticeship.
  • 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in electrical maintenance, ideally within a critical environment such as a data center, hospital, or industrial plant.
  • Sound knowledge of MV/LV electrical systems, UPS technology, and generator sets.
  • Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and safe-isolation procedures.
  • Confidence reading single-line diagrams and electrical schematics.
  • Good English communication skills (Dutch is an advantage), with the ability to exchange clear information with colleagues, contractors, and management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and an eye for detail.
  • Physical fitness to meet the demands of the role, including working at height and in confined spaces.
