Job summary

Fortis Hayes is seeking experienced IT Support Field Technicians for a large-scale, global project to decommission and dispose of data center hardware. The role focuses on physical de-racking, inventory management, and secure preparation of servers and networking gear.

Ideal candidates have hands-on hardware experience, meticulous documentation skills, and the ability to follow precise procedures in a data center environment. Travel to international sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as IT Support Technician or Field Technician.
• Experience with hardware decommissioning, installation, or maintenance.
• Familiarity with HP, Dell, and Cisco hardware.
• Ability to follow instructions and checklists with accuracy.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs / 23 kg.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Physically decommission IT assets (servers, blade chassis, switches) at multiple sites.
• Power down, unrack, label, and package equipment for transport.
• Update asset inventories with tracking systems and maintain chain-of-custody.
• Adhere to client security policies and data destruction protocols.
• Report daily progress to Project Manager and resolve on-site issues.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety standards.
