Job summary

Bertelsmann-Jobs in the Netherlands is seeking a Customs Declarant to join our Consumer Products operation in an international logistics environment. You will help ensure smooth, compliant customs processes as our operation expands.

You will handle import/export declarations, monitor compliance, data collection, and liaise with authorities, carriers and customers. A two-shift schedule and Saturday availability are required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Accurate and proactive professional in an international logistics environment.
• MBO+ or HBO education level or higher.
• Customs qualification is an advantage.
• Experience in customs or international logistics is a plus.
• Good knowledge of MS Office.
• Affinity with logistics processes and administrative work.
• Good command of English.
• Available for two-shift schedule (06:30–21:30) and Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth customs operations and compliance with international regulations.
• Prepare, process and verify import, export and transit declarations.
• Monitor processes and ensure documentation complies with current customs legislation.
• Collect and validate data required for customs declarations.
• Identify discrepancies and coordinate solutions with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support customs inspections, physical checks and audits.
• Maintain contact with customs authorities, carriers, customers and internal departments.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and optimization of customs processes.

At our Consumer Products operation, you will play an important role in ensuring smooth and compliant customs processes. As the operation continues to develop, we are looking to further structure and optimize our customs activities, creating opportunities to contribute your expertise and improve the way we work.

You will work in a dynamic supply chain environment where accuracy, collaboration and continuous improvement are key. Together with your colleagues, you will help ensure that import, export and transit activities are handled efficiently and in compliance with all applicable customs legislation.

YOUR TASKS

• As a Customs Declarant, you are responsible for ensuring smooth customs operations and maintaining compliance with international customs regulations.
• Prepare, process and verify import, export and transit customs declarations;
• Monitor customs processes and ensure all documentation complies with current customs legislation;
• Collect and validate data required for customs declarations;
• Identify discrepancies and coordinate solutions with internal and external stakeholders;
• Support customs inspections, physical checks and audits;
• Maintain contact with customs authorities, carriers, customers and internal departments;
• Contribute to the continuous improvement and optimization of customs processes within the operation.

YOUR PROFILE

• We are looking for an accurate and proactive professional who enjoys working in an international logistics environment.
• MBO+ or HBO working and thinking level;
• A recognized customs qualification is considered an advantage;
• Experience in customs or international logistics is a plus;
• Good knowledge of MS Office;
• Affinity with logistics processes and administrative work;
• Good command of the English language;
• Flexibility to work in a two-shift schedule, with the earliest start at 06:30 and the latest finish at 21:30 on weekdays;
• Availability to work on Saturdays.
