Job summary

AIT Worldwide Logistics is seeking a Customs Broker in the Netherlands to serve as the first contact for colleagues and authorities, ensuring smooth, timely customs clearance processes.

The role involves declaration of imports/exports, data plausibility checks, and close collaboration with customs authorities to support customers and maintain compliance with deadlines.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a customs agent/broker
• Strong knowledge of customs clearance processes
• Fluent in English and Dutch (oral and written)
• Ability to work well in a team and independently
• Proactive, results-driven, detail oriented
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• VGB security clearance or ability to obtain it

Responsibilities

• Plausibility check of customs-relevant customer data and commissioning
• Declaration of import/export clearances
• Maintain communication with customs authorities
• Prepare transit documents and monitor their closure
• Calculate duties for shipments
• Support and consult customers on customs issues
• Prepare key figures and statistics
• Retain customs documents and ensure deadlines are met
• Handle NCRs, complaints, and claims
• Support implementation and continuous improvement for customers
• Execute all Dangerous Goods shipments in compliance with applicable laws

Overview

The Customs Broker will serve as the first contact for AIT colleagues and customs authorities with regards to customs related queries. This role will ensure optimal, smooth, and timely customs clearance processes.

Responsibilities

• Plausibility check of customs-relevant customer data and commissioning
• Declaration of import customs clearances and export clearances
• Ensuring communication with customs authorities
• Preparation of transit documents and monitoring of their closure
• Calculation of duties
• Support and consulting of customers
• Preparation of key figures and statistics
• Compliance with the obligation to retain customs documents
• Deadline control and compliance with completion and submission deadlines
• Handle additional tasks according to specific customer SOP requirements
• Support resolution of local NCR's, complaints, claims
• Support Implementation & continuous improvement for customers
• Execute all Dangerous Goods shipments in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (as applicable)

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience as a customs agent/broker
• Good knowledge in customs clearance
• Fluent oral and written English and Dutch is a must
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently
• Pro-active, target driven, solutions-oriented and good attention to details
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• VGB security clearance (or the ability to obtain it) is required for this position
