Job summary

Customs Support Group is seeking a hands-on AI engineer to lead the development and customization of its market-facing AI stack. You will design, test and implement practical agentic AI solutions on top of foundation models, focusing on retrieval, document understanding, and multi-step workflows in a customs context.

You will work with Operations, Transformation, IT and Group teams to turn business needs into scalable, compliant solutions, while ensuring reliability and cost efficiency in

Qualifications

• Experience engineering AI features in production systems.
• Strong Python and SQL with production code ownership.
• Demonstrated experience integrating large language models into production.
• Practical experience with a major cloud AI platform (Azure AI, AWS Bedrock or Google Vertex).
• Solid backend fundamentals: APIs, data pipelines, testing, CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Develop and customise AI solutions from prototype to production ownership.
• Leverage generative AI to build agentic solutions that improve operations.
• Identify automation opportunities across customs and business processes; size them before building.
• Design retrieval, tool calling, and structured extraction for customs documents and agent workflows.
• Own evaluation criteria for shipped solutions and monitor performance and costs.
• Manage pilots, deployments, and criteria for scaling or stopping experiments.
• Collaborate with Operations, Transformation, IT and Group teams.
• Contribute to privacy, security and AI governance, aligning with EU AI Act.
