Job summary

Elestor is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to design, implement and maintain automation for our energy storage products and test stands. You will work with a multidisciplinary team on prototypes and customer projects, turning control concepts into working, tested systems.

You will contribute to safety assessments, data-driven optimization, and seamless integration of control software with instrumentation. A proactive mindset and strong communication are essential for success at Elestor.

Qualifications

BSc or MSc in Mechatronics, Systems and Control, Electrical Engineering or related field.
3-7 years experience in control, industrial automation or mechatronics engineering.
Proven experience in developing control systems from concept through commissioning.
Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
Solid understanding of control fundamentals including PID, cascade, and feedforward; MPC knowledge desirable.
Experience with PLC programming in IEC 61131-3 (Siemens TIA Portal, CODESYS, or similar).
Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and/or Python for modelling and data analysis.
Familiar with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, CAN, EtherCAT and Profinet.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics.
Awareness of functional and machine safety requirements (IEC 61508, ISO 13849, CE).
Mindset: hands-on, analytical and hypothesis-driven, with ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
Fluent in English; Dutch is an advantage.
Nice to have: battery systems, BMS/EMS integration, or power electronics; IEC 62932/62619 or UL 9540; embedded systems or real-time control using C/C++.

Responsibilities

Develop control software based on process design documents using Python, Linux, time series databases, CODESYS, TIA Portal, Node-RED and InfluxDB.
Support instrument selection and integration.
Prepare and carry out commissioning of automation systems.
Plan and perform maintenance activities and troubleshoot systems.
Support system performance optimization through data analysis and dashboards.
Maintain databases and ensure regular backups.
Contribute to safety design assessments (FMEA, HAZOP) and compliance with standards.
Document requirements, designs and commissioning results clearly.
Continuously improve designs and working methods with practical ideas.
