Job summary

TU Delft’s Department of Intelligent Systems seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor to advance computer vision and deep learning through excellent research, education, and collaboration. You will build an independent, internationally recognized program, publish in top venues, secure funding, and mentor PhD/masters students while engaging with industry and public-sector partners.

The role emphasizes leadership, interdisciplinary collaboration, and contribution to a diverse academic community

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or closely related discipline.
  • Ability to build external collaborations with academic, industrial, and societal partners.
  • Effective communication in an international academic environment and support for shared research themes.
  • Research record appropriate to career stage and a clear vision for future research in CV and DL.
  • Ability to teach deep learning, AI, ML, and computer vision at university level.
  • Experience with or potential for acquiring competitive external research funding.
  • Experience in supervising PhD candidates and students.
  • For Associate Professor: established independent research profile, funding, leadership, and supervision experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an independent research program with international impact and visibility.
  • Publish high-quality research in international venues and secure external funding.
  • Contribute to education in deep learning, machine learning, AI, and computer vision; support curriculum development.
  • Supervise PhD candidates, postdocs, MSc and BSc students and mentor them.
  • Collaborate across faculties and with external partners to enhance scientific and societal impact.
