Job description

About the role

As our Community & Campus Engagement Intern, you’ll shape how members experience the Hub – from their very first visit to their ongoing involvement in our growing community. The role sits where community and sales meet: you’ll welcome and connect members, guide organisations through their membership journey, host tours and delegations, and help bring new members and partners on board.

You’ll work closely with our Campus and Programming teams to make the Hub a place where people, ideas and opportunities from across The Hague’s peace and justice ecosystem come together – and to make sure every encounter reflects our welcoming, collaborative spirit.

What you’ll do
  • Member engagement & experience
    • Welcome members and visitors, and make introductions
    • Help create a warm, inclusive and lively campus atmosphere
    • Connect people with relevant contacts, opportunities and spaces within the Hub
    • Give prospective members an on-site “tour of the house”
  • Membership journey
    • Act as first point of contact for new member enquiries via our shared inbox
    • Help onboard new members
    • Gather member feedback and turn it into improvements to our services and the Hub
    • Help shape how our membership offer is presented and delivered
  • Events
    • Co-organise and host community events such as Community Drinks, together with our Connection Platform Intern
    • Support ad hoc collaborations and member-led activities
  • Delegations & external representation
    • Host tours and visits for external guests and delegations
    • Help develop our delegation hosting products and services
    • Actively promote and sell delegation hosting services
    • Master the Hub pitch and coach other team members in delivering it
    • Represent the Humanity Hub and its community
  • Sales, outreach & ecosystem development
    • Support outreach to prospective members and partners
    • Carry out market research and identify collaboration opportunities
    • Contribute to membership development and follow-up
Who you are
  • You care about the Humanity Hub’s community of changemakers working towards a more peaceful and just world.
  • You have an affinity with – and some experience in – project management and event organisation.
  • You’re curious and friendly, and you stay calm, responsive and solution-oriented when things get busy.
  • You’re punctual, well organised and proactive, and comfortable juggling several tasks at once.
  • You have a flexible, can-do attitude: happy to switch between tasks, lend a hand where needed and suggest improvements.
  • You communicate clearly and confidently, both in writing and in person.
  • You work well independently and as part of a team, and you see feedback as a chance to learn.
  • You’re fluent in English. Dutch is a strong plus – Dutch-speaking candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.
Requirements
  • You are studying, or have studied, a relevant field – for example (but not limited to) International Relations, Political Science, Public Relations, Business Management & Development or Development Studies.
  • You are legally permitted to do an internship in the Netherlands (with or without a university internship agreement).
  • You live in or near The Hague. Please note that we are unable to cover travel costs to and from the Hub.
  • You can work 4 days (32 hours) per week for the full six months.
  • You are available for occasional flexible hours to support events.
What we offer
  • An internship allowance of €400 per month (based on 32 hours per week)
  • Paid holiday: 8 days, based on 32 hours per week
  • Hybrid working: 25% of your hours can be worked remotely
  • 40% discount on all food and drinks at the Hub Café
  • Free access to our events and workshops
  • The chance to build your network among leading innovators and changemakers
  • A proactive role in the development of The Hague Humanity Hub
  • Guidance throughout your internship, plus valuable input for your thesis and next career steps
  • An energetic, purpose-driven culture in a vibrant workspace with a diverse team
