Job summary

Hunter Philips Executive Search is recruiting OT/SCADA Commissioning Engineers for a leading Dutch transmission system operator. This client-side role focuses on overseeing the commissioning connection between substations and OT applications across the Netherlands, with a strong emphasis on integration with OT/SCADA systems.

Based in the Netherlands, you will travel occasionally to sites, collaborate with OT, telecommunications and field teams, and contribute to HVDC and transmission

OT / SCADA COMMISSIONING ENGINEERS – NETHERLANDS

Are you an electrical or transmission engineer with experience in OT, SCADA, telecommunications or substation automation?

We’re recruiting permanent Commissioning Engineers for a leading Dutch transmission system operator. This is a client-side opportunity to support a major portfolio of current and future energy infrastructure projects across the Netherlands, offering excellent long-term career development.

THE ROLE

This isn’t a traditional field-based commissioning position focused solely on physical equipment. Your main responsibility will be overseeing the commissioning connection between substations and other transmission assets and the organisation’s OT applications and operational systems.

You will:

• Provide commissioning support across the Dutch transmission network
• Commission interfaces between field assets and OT/SCADA applications
• Work closely with OT applications, telecommunications and field commissioning teams
• Troubleshoot integration and commissioning issues
• Attend sites occasionally when additional technical support is required
• Contribute to substation, transmission infrastructure and selected HVDC projects

ABOUT YOU

You’ll ideally bring:

• A background in electrical or transmission engineering
• Experience or a strong understanding of OT/SCADA environments
• General knowledge of relevant IEC standards
• Telecommunications or communications knowledge relating to transmission assets
• An understanding of interfaces between field equipment and operational applications
• Strong technical troubleshooting and stakeholder-management skills

Experience with HVDC would be beneficial, but it is not essential. No single communications protocol is mandatory.

LOCATION AND TRAVEL

You must be based in the Netherlands because access to certain operational systems is geographically restricted. Travel is limited, although occasional site attendance will be required. Integration with the Netherlands-based team is more important than being permanently based in the field.
