Job summary
Generator is seeking an exceptional and passionate Commis Chef to join our Kitchen team in London. If you are motivated, organised and a people person, this is your chance to be part of Europe’s fastest moving lifestyle and hospitality brand.
You'll prepare and present high-quality dishes, maintain hygiene, and support the Head Chef in delivering memorable guest experiences across our venues. A love of food and a drive to learn are essential.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and present high-quality dishes within company guidelines.
- Ensure guests receive exceptional service and foster guest-centric attitudes.
- Anticipate guests’ needs and exceed expectations.
- Prepare mis-en-place for all relevant menus.
- Be aware of departmental targets and contribute to the team.
- Keep working areas clean, avoid cross-contamination.
- Report maintenance, hygiene and hazard issues to your manager.
- Comply with health and safety and food safety legislation.
- Improve product knowledge to maximise revenue and service.
- Carry out other duties as requested by Head Chef.

Generator Amsterdam is located in the up-and-coming eastern side of the city overlooking Oosterpark. This former zoological university building can accommodate 564 guests in 168 twin and quadruple rooms with incredible views on the surrounding and en-suite bathrooms. There is also one luxury apartment for six people with views of the park and a self-catered kitchen. It has flexible and spacious social areas, filled with creative design touches like glass-fronted elevators, a raised café and an outdoor terrace. We’ve turned the former lecture hall into an impressive chill-out lounge and bar, while the old library is now a relaxation and private events room. The basement and café are now dining destinations and the original boiler room has become a secret late-night bar.
- Prepare and present high-quality dishes within company guidelines
- Ensure our guests receive an exceptional level of service and want to return and encourage a guest service attitude in staff
- Anticipate guests’ needs and provide service to exceed their expectations
- Prepare all mis-en-place for all relevant menus
- Be aware of departmental targets and strive to achieve them as part of the team
- Keep all working areas clean and tidy and ensure no cross contamination
- Report maintenance, hygiene and hazard issues to your manager
- Comply with company security, fire regulations and all health and safety and food safety legislation
- Constantly improve product knowledge to maximize revenue and the service provided
- Carry out any other duties as may be requested by the Head Chef that is relevant to the job

- Experience working within the food industry in a similar role
- A genuine interest and enthusiasm for food and service
- A passion for trending Food concepts locally and elsewhere
- Understand the food business and be passionate about maximising revenue
