voco The Hague is seeking a Commis Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team in the heart of The Hague. This role supports breakfast service, assists with buffet setup, follows recipe cards, and ensures mise en place is ready for service.

You will learn from senior chefs in a busy, international hotel environment. We welcome candidates with basic culinary training (MBO or similar) or those currently studying hospitality/chef education, and an EU work permit.

• Basic culinary training or studying hospitality/chef education.
• EU work permit required; housing not provided.

Responsibilities

• Support kitchen team in preparing and presenting breakfast dishes.
• Assist with setting up and maintaining the breakfast buffet with F&B team.
• Follow recipe cards and instructions from senior chefs to prepare dishes consistently.
• Ensure all ingredients are prepped and mise en place ready.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and running smoothly during service.
• Handle basic cooking tasks and learn new techniques from experienced chefs.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues for smooth kitchen operations.
• Use kitchen equipment safely and maintain cleanliness of tools and workspaces.
• Work according to HACCP food safety procedures.

• Support the team with lunch preparations for co-hosts when required.
• Be flexible and assist with ad-hoc tasks when needed—teamwork is key.

Did you bring everything?

• A passion for cooking and a willingness to learn and grow in the kitchen.
• EU work permit required; we do not offer housing.
• Basic culinary training (MBO or similar) or currently studying hospitality/chef education.
• A proactive attitude and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stay organized under pressure.
• A team-player mindset with good communication skills.
• Enthusiasm for delivering great service and supporting your colleagues.
• Interest in food, ingredients, and flavor combinations.
• Basic multitasking and time management skills.
• Knowledge of English; Dutch is a plus.
