Job summary

RIFT is seeking a Chief Commercial Officer to lead the commercial organisation and secure long‑term agreements for its Iron Fuel Technology. You will shape strategy, manage stakeholders across customers, suppliers and investors, and guide the business towards Final Investment Decision for Alpha One.

You will build a scalable commercial function, oversee cross‑functional teams, and drive growth across Europe, balancing strategic priorities with measurable outcomes.

We are RIFT

RIFT develops Iron Fuel Technology to decarbonize industrial heat. After years of technology development and successful pilot projects, we are now taking the next step towards commercial deployment. With Alpha One, our first large scale project, we are preparing for Final Investment Decision (FID). Securing long term commercial agreements with suppliers, customers and strategic partners is a critical step towards making that happen.

As Chief Commercial Officer, you bring together customers, suppliers and strategic partners to realise an entirely new industrial energy value chain. You develop new value chains, establish strategic long term partnerships and translate innovation into a scalable and profitable business model.

You are not joining an existing market. You are helping create one. That requires commercial leadership, entrepreneurship and the ability to bring together stakeholders with different interests. The commercial decisions you make will lay the foundation for the first large scale deployment of Iron Fuel Technology and RIFT's further international growth.

Your impact as Chief Commercial Officer

As Chief Commercial Officer, you will play a decisive role in bringing RIFT's first commercial-scale project, Alpha One, to reality. Alpha One is much more than a project. It is the first large-scale deployment of Iron Fuel Technology and the foundation for a completely new energy value chain.

To reach Final Investment Decision (FID), RIFT must secure critical long-term commercial agreements across the entire value chain. This includes establishing binding customer commitments, developing sustainable outlet markets for iron oxide and securing strategic supply agreements for key feedstocks such as hydrogen and virgin iron powder.

At the same time, you will look beyond Alpha One. As a member of the Management Team, you will help shape RIFT's long-term commercial strategy, build and scale the commercial organisation, and guide the development of future projects across Europe and beyond. You will operate at the intersection of customers, suppliers, investors, shareholders and the Supervisory Board, balancing strategic priorities while building a commercially viable and scalable business.

Success in this role requires a combination of commercial leadership, strategic vision, stakeholder management and entrepreneurial drive. You will not only help bring Alpha One to life, but also lay the commercial foundation for RIFT's international growth.

Your Key Responsibilities

Delivering Alpha One

You are commercially accountable for creating the conditions required to bring Alpha One to FID.

• Securing long-term customer agreements for Iron Fuel solutions.
• Developing and contracting long-term offtake agreements for iron oxide.
• Establishing strategic sourcing agreements for hydrogen and virgin powder.
• Building and managing the commercial project pipeline required to support Alpha One’s deployment.
• Leading complex negotiations and closing strategic long-term partnership across the value chain.

Key KPIs: commercial milestones achieved to support Alpha One FID.

Commercial Strategy & Market Development

You define and execute RIFT’s commercial strategy and market positioning and a completely new and emerging market.

• Developing strategic partnership that create new market opportunities and long-term value.
• Strengthening and positioning the RIFT brand internationally.
• Defining pricing strategies and commercial business models.
• Identifying new applications, markets and customers segments.
• Translating technological innovation into scalable and profitable commercial opportunities.

Key KPIs: long-term hydrogen supply agreements secured, strategic sourcing contracts for virgin powder established, long-term iron oxide offtake agreements contracted & strategic boiler sales agreements secured.

Sourcing Leadership & Organisation Building

You lead and further develop RIFT’s commercial organisation and ensure it is ready to support international growth.

• Lead a team of approximately eight professionals across Marketing, Boiler Sales and Iron Oxide Sales.
• Build the organisational structure, capabilities and culture required for scale.
• Coach and develop commercial talent while creating strong cross-functional collaboration.
• Drive performance through clear objectives, accountability and measurable outcomes.

Marketing Strategic Management & Governance

As a member of the Management Team, you contribute to the overall direction and success of RIFT.

• Ensure alignment between commercial strategy, business objectives and financial performance.
• Contribute to investment decision and portfolio priorisation.
• Report to and engage with investors, shareholders and the Supervisory Board.
• Represent commercial interests in strategic decision-making and governance discussions.
• Help shape the roadmap to future projects, including Alpha Two, Alpha Three and beyond.

You are a strategic and entrepreneurial commercial leader with strong commercial insight. You know how to connect and convince stakeholders with diverse interests and thrive in an environment where opportunities are still being shaped. With a decisive mindset and strong execution skills, you know how to turn complex commercial challenges into lasting partnerships and tangible results. You also bring:

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior commercial leadership role, preferably within a dynamic technology environment.
• A proven track record of initiating, structuring and successfully closing complex multi party agreements with a contract value exceeding €35 million.
• Experience across the full commercial lifecycle, including business development, customer acquisition, sales, key account management and relationship management.
• Leadership experience across both sales and marketing within a technical environment.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to close complex strategic deals.
• An entrepreneurial mindset, a strong sense of ownership and the drive to make an impact in a fast growing organisation.
