Job description

About The Role

We are looking for a hands‑on engineer with a strong mechanical backbone to support the entire life‑cycle of our e‑bike and e‑scooter fleet – from initial design and testing to deep‑dive root‑cause analysis. In this role, you will act as the vital bridge between our field operations and core engineering teams, leading mechanical projects while providing secondary support on electrical/IoT topics.

While the focus is predominantly mechanical, you will also support electrical topics. This is an active role where you will split your time 50/50 between desk work and hands‑on work in our workshop. Additionally, you will regularly travel to local markets or vendors (approximately once per month) to investigate vehicle performance in their "natural habitat".

THE ROLE AND YOUR IMPACT AT DOTT
  • Failure Analysis: Partner with reliability engineers to drive quality processes such as 8D & FMEA, diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical failures (e.g., bearing failures, BMS corrosion and connector wear) and assessing risks to define containment and corrective action.
  • Warranty & Evidence: Build solid technical evidence to support warranty claims or guide the development of internal hardware solutions.
  • Solution Development: Use CAD to design new components and tools, or develop new technical processes to solve vehicle issues. Once validated, you will work with the Implementation team to roll these out across the fleet.
  • Field Engineering: Conduct real‑world testing and investigations in various markets. You will collaborate with local technical teams to understand how vehicles are operated, repaired, and used by customers to guide your investigations.
  • Testing & Validation: Review vendor test plans and reports to identify technical risks. You will provide clear conclusions on test sufficiency and, when necessary, develop and execute your own internal or external lab test plans.
  • Vehicle Development Support: Translate your field findings and failure analyses into actionable insights for our engineering teams to ensure future vehicle iterations are optimized.
YOU’LL FIT GREAT WITH THESE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience: 3–5 years in mechanical or mechatronics engineering. Experience in Micro‑Mobility is a significant plus.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Automotive Engineering (or a similar field).
  • The Skillset: A proven track record of handling mechanical engineering projects, with the basic electrical comfort needed to troubleshoot sensors, batteries, and wiring harnesses.
  • Technical Tools:
    • Proficiency in CAD tools (Fusion 360 is a plus).
    • Experience with 3D printing.
    • Data and productivity tools: Jira, Google Workspace, Tableau, BigQuery and Claude.
  • Hands‑on Mindset: Professional or hobbyist experience in a workshop setting; you must be eager to get your hands dirty.
  • Mobility: Ability to travel (averaging once per month) across Europe, the Middle East, and China.

Salary range: 50 000 Euro – 65 000 Euro
