Bayards Aluminium Solutions in Nieuw-Lekkerland is seeking a Calculator | Cost Engineer to translate technical designs into cost estimates and quotations for complex aluminium structures.

You will work with Engineering, Sales, Procurement and Production, analyze drawings, determine costs, assess risks, and contribute to competitive proposals, with room for initiative and professional growth.

Are you a technically skilled Calculator or Cost Engineer who enjoys working on complex projects and developing reliable cost estimates?

From our office in Nieuw-Lekkerland, you will work on challenging custom-made projects for clients in the Netherlands and abroad. You translate technical designs, specifications, and customer requirements into well-founded cost calculations and quotations. In doing so, you combine technical expertise, analytical skills, and a keen eye for risks, manufacturability, and costs.

You work closely with colleagues from Engineering, Sales, Procurement, and Production and play an important role in the success of our projects.

In this position, you are responsible for preparing cost estimates and quotations for complex aluminium structures and project-based solutions. You analyse technical documentation, determine material and production costs, assess feasibility, and identify opportunities and risks. Your responsibilities include:

• Preparing accurate cost estimates and quotations;


• Analysing technical specifications, drawings, and customer enquiries;


• Determining material, production, and procurement costs;


• Coordinating with Engineering, Procurement, Production, and Sales;


• Identifying technical and commercial risks;


• Supporting and substantiating cost estimates while safeguarding the quality of proposals;


• Contributing to the continuous improvement of estimating, quotation, and tendering processes.

Your place within Bayards

As a Calculator | Cost Engineer, you will be part of the commercial project team at Bayards Aluminium Solutions. You will work closely with colleagues from Sales, Engineering, Procurement, and Production and play an important role in securing new projects.

You are often one of the first people to assess a new customer enquiry in detail. You analyse technical feasibility, determine costs, and identify risks and opportunities. In doing so, you lay the foundation for a competitive and realistic proposal.

Through your expertise, you make a significant contribution to assessing the feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and competitiveness of new projects. This gives you direct influence on the success of contracts before projects even move into execution.

You will work on a wide variety of custom-made projects for clients at home and abroad. No enquiry is ever the same, and that variety is exactly what makes this role so interesting.

Your Profile

Who are we looking for?

Experience in the aluminium industry is not required. We also strongly encourage candidates from steel construction, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, offshore, maritime, or other technical project-based organisations to apply. Most importantly, you recognise yourself in a role where engineering, estimating, and project-based work come together.

We would especially like to hear from candidates with experience as:

• Calculator;


• Cost or Tender Engineer;


• Work Preparator with estimating experience;


• Project Engineer with proven experience in cost estimation.

What do you bring?

• Bachelor's degree level (HBO) or equivalent, preferably in a technical discipline;


• Experience in a project-based technical environment, such as construction, steel structures, mechanical engineering, offshore, maritime, or industrial sectors;


• Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation;


• Strong analytical skills and numerical insight;


• A structured and accurate approach to work;


• Good communication skills in both Dutch and English, and the ability to translate technical information into cost estimates and commercial proposals.

• A salary between € 3.480 and € 5.150 gross per month based on full-time employment (40 hours), depending on your knowledge and experience, with room for growth;


• 40 days of leave per year: 27 vacation days and 13 ADV days based on full-time employment;

• Travel allowance of € 0,25 per kilometre for commuting;
