You will coordinate Business Continuity Management, Disaster Recovery, Crisis Management, and Operational Resilience activities across the company to support both strategic resilience objectives and regulatory expectations.

The role is designed as a subject-matter expert position and does not include line management or people management activities which are the sole responsibility of the Head of Risk Management.

Your mission:
  • Drive Operational Resilience Excellence: Strengthen and continuously improve EPEX SPOT's Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Crisis Management frameworks to ensure the continuity of critical services.
  • Coordinate Resilience Across the Organization: Partner with business, IT, and operational teams to identify vulnerabilities, improve preparedness capabilities, and enhance recovery readiness.
  • Build a Resilient Culture: Promote resilience and business continuity awareness through training, exercises, and continuous engagement with key stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

Your expertise will directly contribute to safeguarding EPEX SPOT's critical operations and supporting the reliable functioning of European energy markets.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Continuity Management:
  • Lead Business Impact Analyses (BIA): Coordinate and facilitate annual BIAs with business, operational and technology stakeholders to identify critical processes, services, dependencies, recovery requirements, and resilience priorities.
  • Develop and Maintain Continuity Plans: Support operational teams in developing, maintaining, and enhancing Business Continuity Plans (BCPs).
  • Test and train: Coordinate and oversee regular business continuity exercises, crisis management simulations, and recovery tests; ensure effective training of plan owners and crisis stakeholders, track lessons learned and drive continuous improvement actions.
  • Strengthen Operational Resilience: Coordinate initiatives aimed at improving the resilience of critical services, ensuring that important business services can withstand, adapt to, and recover from disruptions.
  • Manage BCM Framework: Maintain BCM policy, standards, methodology, and procedures in alignment with Group policies, regulatory expectations, ISO 22301, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor and Report Resilience Metrics: Maintain resilience dashboards, key performance indicators, action plans, and governance reporting for management and Group stakeholders.
  • Drive Governance Activities: Prepare, coordinate, and participate in Business Continuity committees, ensuring effective follow-up of decisions and actions.
2. Disaster Recovery Coordination:
  • Coordinate Disaster Recovery Activities: Work closely with IT, Cybersecurity, Product Units and external providers to ensure disaster recovery capabilities support business recovery objectives.
  • Maintain Recovery Requirements: Ensure Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) are documented, reviewed, and aligned with business needs.
  • Validate Recovery Capabilities: Coordinate Disaster Recovery testing activities, track remediation actions, and monitor progress until closure.
  • Identify and Address Gaps: Analyze lessons learned from tests, incidents, and near misses, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
3. Crisis Management:
  • Coordinate Incident and Crisis Management Frameworks: Maintain the Incident and Crisis Management framework, plans, roles, responsibilities, escalation procedures, and communication protocols.
  • Prepare Crisis Management Team: Organize training sessions, tabletop exercises, simulations, and crisis management drills involving senior leadership and operational teams.
  • Support Incident Response and Crisis Events: Facilitate crisis coordination activities during major incidents and help ensure effective communication and decision-making processes.
  • Capture Lessons Learned: Lead post-exercise and post-incident reviews to identify opportunities for improvement and strengthen organizational preparedness.
Key Requirements:
Hard Skills:
  • Deep expertise in BCM standards (ISO 22301).
  • Familiarity with IT security standards (ISO 27001) and emerging technologies (AI, Cloud).
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks impacting operational resilience, such as NIS2 and NCCS.
  • Experience working within cloud-based environments and understanding resilience challenges associated with cloud services and modern technology infrastructures.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional projects and driving initiatives involving business and technology stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze complex operational environments, identify vulnerabilities, and propose pragmatic resilience improvements.
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
  • Strong coordination and stakeholder management capabilities across multiple functions and seniority levels.
  • Ability to work autonomously while fostering collaboration across international teams.
