Job summary

MACEE in the Netherlands is seeking a Business Architect - Platform Services to shape the future of platform design, delivery, and evolution. You translate business goals, regulatory demands, and engineering best practices into a clear architecture, collaborating with the Area Lead and Tech Lead to ensure alignment.

You will guide Linux/Windows platforms, storage, cyber recovery, and disaster recovery, balancing security, recoverability, and cost while driving shared ownership across regions.

Qualifications

• Masters degree or equivalent experience required.
• Significant IT architecture experience in complex environments.
• Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows platforms.
• Understanding of storage, backup, restore and DR concepts.
• Experience with cyber recovery strategies and data protection.
• Knowledge of on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.

As Business Architect - Platform Services, you shape the future of how our platform services are designed, delivered, and evolved. You work closely with the Area Lead (product & strategy) and Tech Lead (people & delivery) to translate business goals, regulatory demands, and engineering best practices into a clear, practical architecture. Your mission: design platform services that are modern, secure, resilient, and fit for purpose - from operating systems to backup and recovery, including strong cyber recovery strategies. This role is perfect for someone who loves deep technical challenges and enjoys explaining complex concepts in a way that brings people along.

What youll do

• Architectural leadership
• Own and evolve the architecture blueprint for Platform Services.
• Ensure alignment with engineering standards, enterprise architecture, and regulatory requirements.
• Guide choices around Linux and Windows platforms, SAN, NAS, object storage, archiving and cyber recovery, lifecycle management, and standardization.
• Platform resilience & recovery
• Shape architectures for backup, restore, and disaster recovery.
• Drive strategies for cyber resilience, including recovery design, isolation, and restore confidence.
• Balance security, recoverability, cost, and operational simplicity.
• Collaboration & leadership
• Co lead the Platform Services area together with the Area Lead and Tech Lead.
• Functionally lead Solution Architects working with multiple squads.
• Create clarity and alignment without hierarchy-heavy control.
• Foster a culture of learning, improvement, and shared ownership.
• Work with stakeholders across regions and disciplines.
• Communicate architectural vision and roadmaps in a clear, engaging way.
• Be a trusted sparring partner for engineering, security, and leadership.

Requirements

What you bring

• Education: Masters Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Experience: Significant experience in complex IT environments, including several years in architecture (business, enterprise, or platform).
• Operating systems: Strong hands-on and architectural knowledge of Linux and Windows platforms.
• Storage & data protection: Deep understanding of storage, backup & restore, and disaster recovery concepts.
• Security & resilience mindset: Experience with cyber recovery strategies, data protection, and platform security.
• Cloud & infrastructure: Solid understanding of on prem, cloud, and hybrid environments and how applications use both cloud and infrastructure.
• Communication: Able to explain complex technical topics clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Way of working: Curious, technically deep, collaborative, and focused on team success rather than personal spotlight.
• Language: Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
