MSIG Specialty Marine, Rotterdam-based, is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join our Change & Transformation team. You will bridge business, technology, and external partners, shaping how data, processes and systems support strategic aims.
You will lead requirements gathering, map current processes, and help design future operating models. Expect high collaboration across underwriting, pricing, and data functions in a multi-country setting.
At MSIG Specialty Marine, we operate in a specialist and increasingly data-driven insurance environment where strong underwriting insight, effective portfolio management and high-quality data are critical to how we make decisions and grow our business. As we continue to strengthen our technology, data and operating capabilities, we are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join our Change & Transformation team. This role will support strategic initiatives across areas including Underwriting, Exposure Management, Technical Pricing, Portfolio Management and Operations, helping us improve how our people, processes, data and technology work together. It is an opportunity to work at the heart of business change within an international specialist insurer, partnering with senior stakeholders and technology teams to translate complex business needs into practical, sustainable solutions. The Role As Business Analyst, you will be a key connection point between our business, technology teams and external partners. You will build a strong understanding of how our business operates today, identify where we can improve, and help define what the future should look like. This will involve everything from requirements gathering and process redesign to data analysis, solution implementation and business readiness. You will work across multiple initiatives and stakeholder groups, bringing structure to complex challenges and ensuring solutions are designed around genuine business outcomes. Ultimately, your work will help us create better processes, stronger data, more effective systems and better-informed decision-making across MSIG Specialty Marine.

Partner with business stakeholders to understand objectives, challenges, processes and opportunities for improvement. Elicit, analyse, document and validate business, functional, non-functional and data requirements. Translate complex business needs into clear requirements that technology teams and delivery partners can act upon. Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions and stakeholder discussions to establish requirements, priorities and desired outcomes. Develop clear process maps, user journeys, business requirements and supporting documentation. Maintain traceability of requirements throughout the change lifecycle. Challenge assumptions constructively and ensure solutions address the underlying business need, rather than simply replicating existing processes.
Assess current processes and operating models to identify inefficiencies, control gaps and opportunities for simplification. Design and document future-state processes and support the development of target operating models. Contribute to business process re‑engineering initiatives across underwriting and supporting functions. Identify opportunities to automate, standardise and improve workflows. Help ensure new processes are practical, scalable and aligned with the wider strategic direction of the business.
Develop a strong understanding of the data supporting our underwriting, exposure management, technical pricing and portfolio management activities. Support data mapping, data lineage, data quality and data governance initiatives. Work with stakeholders to define business rules, data requirements and appropriate ownership and controls. Help shape solutions that improve portfolio visibility, exposure oversight and underwriting decision‑making. Support the development of management information, reporting and analytical requirements. Work closely with business and data teams to ensure information is trusted, relevant and usable.
Analyse existing systems, workflows, interfaces and dependencies and help define future requirements. Work alongside internal technology teams, solution architects and third‑party vendors throughout solution design and delivery. Support the evaluation and implementation of new technology and data solutions. Contribute to testing strategies, test scenarios and business validation. Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Help identify business readiness requirements ahead of implementation. Support successful adoption through communication, training, documentation and stakeholder engagement.
Work closely with Project Managers, business leaders and technology teams to support successful delivery. Maintain high-quality project and business analysis documentation. Support planning, prioritisation, status reporting and governance activities. Identify requirements-related risks, dependencies and issues and ensure these are appropriately managed. Contribute to the continuous improvement of our change and transformation practices. Help ensure initiatives remain focused on measurable business outcomes and sustainable change.
We are looking for someone who combines strong Business Analysis fundamentals with curiosity, commercial awareness and the confidence to work with a broad range of stakeholders.
