Job summary

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is seeking an EU Liaison Officer to strengthen Brussels representation, build internal and external EU networks, and advance Horizon Europe-related opportunities. The role focuses on strategy, advocacy, and relationship-building across central and faculty levels in the Netherlands and Brussels.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• At least 3 years of experience in EU funding acquisition, innovation ecosystems, public affairs or strategic partnerships.
• In-depth knowledge of EU institutions, policies and Horizon Europe.
• Experience with advocacy, policy influencing and/or representation in EU networks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Creative thinking with strong analytical and synthesis skills; ability to draft position papers and reports.

Responsibilities

• Identify funding opportunities in research and innovation funding through horizon scanning.
• Build momentum and support within VU for EU-related activities.
• Represent VU in Brussels, including profile-raising and advocacy.
• Build and maintain an internal VU network for EU-related work and connect with Brussels networks.
