Job summary

AFS Group in Amsterdam invites talented brokers to grow and diversify our Public Sector desk, engaging European corporates, governments and financial institutions. You will leverage our product suite and partner network to win new business and expand existing relationships.

You will identify client needs, close deals, and explore cross-department opportunities while building deep market knowledge and a focus on debt products and funding solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or higher.
• Experience in finance, broking, trading, or complex sales roles preferred.
• Fluent in German and Dutch, and English.
• Networking in the financial industry is a plus.
• Eager, energetic, curious and proactive by nature.
• Willing to cold call potential clients and travel for sales.
• Good knowledge of financial products and the money and capital markets.
• Accurate, excellent numerical and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and expand the Public Sector client portfolio with a focus on new business and high-potential clients.
• Identify clients’ needs and proactively close deals for best-in-market satisfaction.
• Actively seek new and cross-selling opportunities within AFS Group departments.
• Conduct market research on trends, technology, potential clients and industries to inform decisions.
• Become a sub-sovereign and corporate debt product specialist focusing on funding and direct lending.

The AFS Interest Rates Division has roots dating back 175 years and continues to expand in both its core established and new markets. In total AFS Group counts close to 200 employees, with ambitious growth plans centered on how to best serve our customers in this dynamic, ever-changing, and fast-paced markets. The AFS Interest Rates Division consists of a group of 40+ ambitious and motivated professionals across Money & Capital Markets and Fixed Income providing best in class solutions to serve a variety of public sector, corporate, banking, and institutional clients.

We are looking for talented or aspiring brokers to develop new and further develop existing relationships with (European) corporates, governments, and various public and financial institutions, with the support of AFS’ core product offering and the network and expertise of our various colleagues. The Public Debt desk intermediates deposits, CPs, CDs, and other short-term interest rate products, as well as loans, MTNs and Private Placements in the capital market on behalf of our core clients.

Overall, the Interest Rates Division is active in the following products:

• Interbank and Non-banking Deposits
• Certificates of Deposits (CD) & Commercial Paper (CP)
• Repurchase Agreements
• Foreign Exchange (mainly FX-Swaps)
• Treasury Bills
• Medium Term Notes & Structured Bonds
• Private Placements & (Structured) Loans

Within the European market alone, there remain numerous opportunities for expansion. We can increase our focus on markets where we already have a presence and explore new markets where we have not yet established activities. We are therefore seeking talents with diverse linguistic abilities and backgrounds who are interested in a commercial role within the financial sector.

In this role you will be focusing on:

• Managing, maintaining, and expanding the Public Sector desk client portfolio, with a focus on new business and high potential clients and markets
• Identify clients’ needs and proactively act to achieve best-in-market customer satisfaction and close deals
• Actively looking for new and cross-selling opportunities within AFS Group departments
• Conduct market research where you will research and analyze market trends, technological advancements, potential clients, and their industry trends, to help inform business decisions
• Becoming a sub-sovereign and corporate debt product specialist focusing on short- and long-term funding and direct lending

Job requirements

• Bachelor degree or higher
• Candidates with experience in finance, broking, trading, or complex sales roles are preferred
• Fluent in German and Dutch, and English
• Candidates with a network in the financial industry are a plus
• Eager, energetic, curious, and proactive by nature
• You are steady and not afraid to (cold) call (potential) clients and go on sales trips
• Good knowledge of financial products and the money and capital market is preferred
• Accurate, excellent numerical and analytical skills is a must
