Job summary

Johnson & Johnson in Leiden is seeking a Staff EHS Engineer - Biosafety Officer to co-develop and implement comprehensive biosafety policies and programs. You will lead EHS initiatives, ensuring safe handling of biological materials and regulatory compliance across laboratories and production areas.

The role requires deep biosafety knowledge, ISO 14001 experience preferred, and the ability to collaborate with researchers, operations, and partners to foster a culture of safety.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Biosafety, EHS, or bioscience lab/production environment.
• Strong understanding of biosafety and EHS regulations and standards (ISO 14001 preferred).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills in Dutch and English.
• Ability to work collaboratively in complex organizations and influence partners.

Responsibilities

• Co-develop, implement and maintain biosafety management program.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop biosafety protocols for handling biological materials.
• Implement training programs for staff on biosafety practices and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and Johnson & Johnson guidelines.
• Lead investigations and recommend corrective actions for incidents.
