Job summary

Enza Zaden is seeking a Computational & Bioinformatics Intern to develop a modular genome annotation pipeline for plant genomes and explore how AI can improve BRAKER's gene annotations. You will contribute to data-driven research and crop improvement.

In the Biology & Bioinformatics department, you will integrate multi-omics data and evaluate BRAKER’s performance on key crops. The internship is 38 hours per week for 6–10 months, with a monthly allowance of €500–€600 gross and benefits including

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, or related field; experience with Python/R and Linux.
• Experience with sequencing data (RNA-seq, genomics, proteomics) and interest in genome annotation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to contribute to research projects.
• Excellent verbal and written English.

Responsibilities

• Develop a modular genome annotation pipeline for plant genomes.
• Integrate multi-omics data to generate accurate gene predictions.
• Apply deep-learning methods to improve BRAKER’s performance.
• Evaluate results on tomato and lettuce to assess annotation quality.
