Job summary

High Tech Source is seeking an experienced engineer to build automated test systems for next-generation battery production. You will scale testing from laboratory benches to production lines, designing end-to-end test setups for cells, modules and packs, and interfacing with cyclers, power supplies and data acquisition equipment.

You will write test software in Python or LabVIEW, connect to instruments via CAN/SCPI/Modbus, and develop test methods for capacity, resistance and health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in mechatronics, mechanical, electrical engineering or a comparable technical field.
• Minimum 3 years in test automation, production testing, lab automation or similar hands-on engineering role.
• Strong programming skills in Python or LabVIEW; experience connecting software to measurement equipment or production machinery.
• Knowledge of lithium-ion cells and battery packs; capacity, internal resistance, state of charge and health.
• Familiarity with CAN, SCPI, Modbus or similar protocols.
• Experience in a scaling or high-volume production environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Designing and building automated test setups for battery cells, modules and packs.
• Connecting and controlling lab equipment like cyclers, power supplies, electronic loads and climate chambers.
• Writing test software (Python or LabVIEW) communicating with instruments via CAN/SCPI/Modbus.
• Developing test methods for key battery characteristics and end-of-line testing with traceability.
• Building the data backbone to store test results traceably.
• Making tests faster, more stable, and repeatable as production scales up.
• Collaborating with hardware, production and engineering teams to translate needs into robust solutions.
