Build the test systems that bring next-generation batteries into production
Our client is a fast-growing high-tech scale-up that develops and manufactures advanced lithium-ion battery systems for demanding, weight-critical applications where performance and safety are non-negotiable. After years of development, the company is making the leap from prototypes to series production. New production lines are being built, volumes are rising, and testing has to grow along with them.
That's where you come in. You will take testing from manual work at the lab bench to reliable, automated test systems that run in the lab and on the production line alike.
What you'll work on
- Designing and building automated test setups for battery cells, modules and complete packs
- Connecting and controlling lab equipment such as cyclers, power supplies, electronic loads, data acquisition systems and climate chambers
- Writing test software (Python or LabVIEW) that talks to instruments over protocols like CAN, SCPI and Modbus
- Developing test methods for key battery characteristics: capacity, cycle behaviour, internal resistance, cell balancing and more
- Setting up end-of-line testing for production, with clear acceptance criteria, short cycle times and full traceability
- Building the data backbone: storing test results so that every measurement can be traced back to a specific battery
- Making tests faster, more stable and more repeatable as production scales up
- Working side by side with hardware, production and engineering colleagues to translate their testing needs into robust solutions
What you bring
- A bachelor's or master's degree in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a comparable technical field
- At least 3 years of experience in test automation, production testing, lab automation or a similar hands-on engineering role
- Solid programming skills in Python or LabVIEW, and experience connecting software to measurement equipment or production machinery
- Knowledge of lithium-ion cells and battery packs, including capacity, internal resistance, state of charge and health, ageing and thermal behaviour
- Experience with battery test methods is a strong plus
- Familiarity with CAN, SCPI, Modbus or similar protocols
- Experience structuring and storing test data in databasesA problem-solving mindset and a knack for turning manual processes into reliable automated ones
- Experience in a scaling or high-volume production environment is a plus
- EU work authorization - No knowledge migrant sponsorship.
What's in it for you
- 38 days off per year and pension
- A key role in a company at a decisive moment: the move to series production
- Plenty of room to shape your own role and take real ownership
- An international, English-speaking team.
