Backend & Supabase Engineer

Job summary

HireWorklin is seeking a senior backend engineer to build scalable backend services powering the marketplace. You will design PostgreSQL schemas, indexes, and RLS policies to ensure data security and performance.

You will build and maintain Supabase Edge Functions (TypeScript) for email triggers and webhooks, implement real-time channels for messaging and dashboards, and integrate Stripe and PayPal for escrow and subscriptions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with PostgreSQL and at least one modern framework (Node.js, Go, Python).
• Deep experience with Supabase or similar platforms (Firebase, AWS Amplify) including Auth, Storage, and Edge Functions.
• Strong understanding of database design patterns: normalisation, indexing strategies, materialized views, and query optimisation.
• Experience implementing payment integrations (Stripe, PayPal) with escrow and multi-party settlement.

• Design and optimise PostgreSQL schemas, indexes, and Row Level Security (RLS) policies for the HireWorklin_ platform.
• Build and maintain Supabase Edge Functions (Deno/TypeScript) for email triggers, webhook handlers, and third-party integrations.
• Implement real-time features using Supabase Realtime channels for messaging, notifications, and live dashboard updates.
• Integrate and maintain payment flows with Stripe and PayPal including escrow logic, refunds, and subscription billing.
• Write database migrations, seed scripts, and automated tests to ensure data integrity across environments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with PostgreSQL and at least one modern framework (Node.js, Go, Python).
• Deep experience with Supabase or similar platforms (Firebase, AWS Amplify) including Auth, Storage, and Edge Functions.
• Strong understanding of database design patterns: normalisation, indexing strategies, materialized views, and query optimisation.
• Experience implementing payment integrations (Stripe, PayPal) with escrow and multi-party settlement.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and observability tooling.

Nice to have

• Experience with Deno runtime and Supabase Edge Functions specifically.
• Knowledge of PostgREST, pg_cron, and PostgreSQL extensions ecosystem.
• Prior work on marketplace or two-sided platform backends.
