Job summary

Coolset, an ESG and supply chain platform, is hiring a backend software engineer in Amsterdam. You will build features and integrations, focusing on API-first development using Django REST framework, FastAPI, and cloud-native tools.

We value an entrepreneurial mindset, hands-on problem solving, and strong communication. This role is part of a small, ambitious team in a hybrid setup with in-office days in Amsterdam.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a software engineer in a fast-growing startup or similar.
• Hands-on with opinionated web frameworks; experience with Django Rest Framework and FastAPI.
• DevOps mindset; comfortable deploying and operating services in the cloud.

Responsibilities

• Build new features, projects and integrations for the Coolset platform.
• Develop world-class APIs using Python, Django/ FastAPI on a serverless cloud stack.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure scalable, compliant ESG and supply chain tooling.
• Own problems end-to-end with an entrepreneurial, hands-on approach.

About the role

As a backend software engineer, you will play a significant role in the development of the Coolset platform.

We follow API-first principals with the latest and greatest serverless cloud technology, using Google Cloud Platform.

You will be working on building new features, projects, and integrations for the platform. This is a great opportunity to learn about and work with cutting-edge technology while having a positive impact on the environment.

This role requires someone with an entrepreneurial stance towards problem-solving, flexibility in action, and a hands-on mentality while taking accountability for your projects. Strong communication skills and a creative-oriented mindset for solving problems are a must.

Your profile

• You are committed to an AI future, in both your way of working and in the products you build
• You have 2+ years experience working in a software engineer role, preferably at a high-growth startup
• You love working with opinionated web frameworks and follow best practices to build world-class APIs: we use Django Rest framework, FastAPI and FastMCP
• You have a DevOps mentality - not all solutions should be solved with code!
• You find the right balance between quality and output. You launch fast and iterate and don't get stuck in processes
• You're already based in The Netherlands, preferably in or around Amsterdam

Nice to haves

• Experience with frontend development using React
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform

• Technical case study - You’ll receive an assignment to work on
• 120-min in-office working session - We'll brainstorm together on how to build a new feature, this will be a technical refinement session where we explore a roadmap feature and decide on the best technical approach
• If successful: A job offer within 48 hours to join Coolset
