Job summary

Catawiki is seeking a Backend Engineer to join a small, autonomous Agile team delivering scalable microservices for search, bidding, curation, logistics, payments and support. You’ll own end‑to‑end development across a vertical (Demand/Supply/Fulfilment) with a focus on reliability and performance.

The role is based in Amsterdam in a hybrid setup. You’ll contribute to a scale‑up culture with 800+ colleagues, learning new technologies during weekly sprints and Technical Week.

Qualifications

7+ years of software development experience with object‑oriented programming.
3+ years building customer-facing products in e-commerce/fintech/SaaS.
Experience designing and deploying scalable backend services with high availability.

Responsibilities

Build end‑to‑end scalable microservices and features.
Own delivery quality, resilience and maintainability of services.
Collaborate with product designers/owners and frontend/mobile engineers.
Improve engineering processes and document best practices.
Refactor code and fix bugs to keep products reliable.
Learn and experiment with new technologies during Technical Week.
