Job summary

Quin, a Dutch MDR-certified digital healthcare software company, is seeking a Backend Engineer to own end-to-end backend delivery. You will architect, build, and deploy scalable services that power care in primary and secondary settings, while collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams in a flat, fast-moving environment.

You’ll work on backend systems designed for reliability and growth, applying TDD, DDD, and Clean Architecture.

Qualifications

At Quin, we're building the next generation of digital healthcare tools for GPs, caregivers in primary and secondary care, and the patients who rely on them. Our mission: keep healthcare sustainable and accessible for everyone. We do this by creating practical, scalable software that helps clinicians deliver the right care, faster, from triage to referral, from GP practice to hospital.

Products like ZorgvraagHulp and ZorgpadHulp already run at dozens of GP practices, out-of-hours services, and care groups across the Netherlands, helping route care demand smarter and navigate complex care pathways. As an MDR-certified medical device company (ISO 13485, ISO 27001, NEN 7510), we build software that genuinely matters with all the rigor around quality, security, and compliance that comes with it, but without the slowness of a traditional healthcare IT vendor.

No layers of hierarchy or handholding. Just a small, highly skilled team of engineers with end-to-end ownership, from concept to production. The next challenge is for a Backend Engineer who thrives in execution mode, someone who wants to build, ship, and make a direct impact from day one.

What you'll be doing

• Own your code from architecture to deployment, you'll take full responsibility for the backend systems you build.
• Build for scale and stability design and implement backend services that are robust, maintainable, and ready to grow with us.
• Shape technical direction collaborate with product, design, and engineering peers to translate product goals into scalable systems.
• Lead through delivery work autonomously, communicate clearly, and execute with focus. No micromanagement, just ownership.
• Raise the bar apply best practices like TDD, DDD, and Clean Architecture as a natural part of your workflow.

What we're looking for

• Someone who executes with confidence, not someone looking to be coached.
• Proven experience building scalable backends in a production environment.
• Deep understanding of modern backend architecture: APIs, data modeling, system design.
• A bias toward action: you prefer building over theorizing, and take full accountability for delivery.
• A true team player who communicates clearly and thrives in a no-nonsense, flat structure.
• Affinity with, or curiosity about, the world of digital healthcare is a plus: you'll be working on software held to strict standards for MDR compliance and information security, with real impact on how clinicians do their work.
