Job summary

Fiducial is seeking an engineering intern to join our Delft team, focusing on 3D vision, UAV control, and autonomous flight. You’ll contribute to building core guidance and navigation components and collaborate across perception, estimation, and flight-test activities.

The role offers a 6-month internship, 40-hour weeks, and a hybrid setup with some remote work. You’ll gain hands-on experience with PX4/ArduPilot stacks and real flying systems while learning from senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of flight dynamics, control theory, and real-time systems.
• Hands-on experience designing control loops for UAVs or similar dynamic systems.
• Familiarity with flight control stacks such as PX4, Ardupilot, or other open-source autopilots.
• Strong programming skills in C++ or Python.
• Awareness of state estimation and filtering concepts (e.g., sensor fusion, complementary filters, or EKF basics).
• Comfort working with UAV simulators or an eagerness to learn SITL/HIL testing workflows.
• Curiosity and motivation to learn quickly, explore new areas, and seek guidance when needed.
• A hands-on attitude, persistence, and enthusiasm for building and improving real flying systems.
• Full-time availability (40 hours).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to developing and tuning guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for autonomous flight.
• Assist in integrating control and navigation modules with perception and state estimation systems.
• Use SITL/HIL environments to test and validate flight control behavior before hardware deployment.
• Review flight logs and telemetry to assess performance and identify issues.
• Collaborate with hardware and flight test teams to configure UAV platforms.
• Support flight test campaigns through setup, monitoring, and data analysis.
• Help improve internal tools for simulation, control diagnostics, and flight visualization.
• Learn from senior engineers to iterate between simulation and real-world testing.
