Job Title: Automation Developer (Contract)
Role: Automation Developer sought for a global energy and technology client's Connectivity Automation team, based in the Netherlands. This role owns the design, build, and ongoing maintenance of an end-to-end automation platform stack, spanning CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, and configuration management. You'll work across GitHub Actions, Terraform/OpenTofu, and Ansible Automation Platform, taking responsibility for platform reliability, security, and scalability rather than one-off integration work.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and own end-to-end automation pipelines using GitHub Actions, Terraform/OpenTofu, and Ansible Automation Platform (AAP/AWX)
- Manage the full lifecycle of the automation stack, including setup, configuration, upgrades, and decommissioning of legacy systems
- Provide ongoing maintenance, monitoring, and break/fix support across the automation ecosystem
- Lead security remediation efforts, covering secrets management, pipeline hardening, and access control
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform/OpenTofu for scalable, repeatable deployments
- Build and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for orchestration, configuration management, and network automation
- Integrate automation platforms with enterprise systems via REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven architectures
- Design reusable pipeline templates and frameworks to standardise automation practices across teams
- Document platform architecture, operational procedures, and automation standards
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams adopting the platform
Skills/Must have
- Minimum 5 years in IT
- Proven hands‑on experience with GitHub Actions, including workflow design and runner management
- Strong production experience with Terraform or OpenTofu
- Experience with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) and/or AWX, including playbook development
- Solid scripting skills in Python and Bash
- Experience operating and maintaining automation platforms, including monitoring and upgrades
- Strong understanding of CI/CD and automation security best practices
- Experience integrating systems via REST APIs and event‑driven workflows
- Familiarity with Azure or another major cloud platform
Nice to have
- Azure Logic Apps or similar workflow tooling
- Terraform, CCNP Automation, or Red Hat Ansible Automation certifications
- Inside IR35 contract
- Remote/hybrid working model, with onsite presence in the Netherlands as required

Salary: Up to €75 per hour, negotiable depending on experience.
