Job summary

BioLegend, Inc. is seeking an Associate Scientist to join the Product & Process Improvement (PPI) team. You will apply chemistry skills to formulate, calculate, and scale purification components, from small lab batches to large reactor-scale quantities up to 1,000 kg.

You will collaborate with senior scientists, production teams, and cross-functional partners to translate chemistry into reliable, real-world outcomes while maintaining scientific integrity and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in solution preparation: mixing reagents, adjusting pH and conductivity.
• Ability to modify chemical formulations in response to specification changes or raw material substitutions.
• Fluent in English and Dutch, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Formulating and calculating with precision: molar masses, pH, conductivity and density for liquids from lab to reactor scale.
• Adapting chemistry to evolving requirements and maintaining scientific integrity.
• Scaling lab chemistry into production-ready processes and mitigating scale-up risks.
• Driving continuous improvement using Six Sigma methodologies to reduce inefficiencies.
• Documenting formulation logic via SOPs and technical work instructions.
• Collaborating with Procurement on alternative raw materials for direct replacements.
• Working safely with hazardous materials and supporting ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 compliance.
