Job description

Job Description:

We are seeking highly skilled and motivated candidates to join our Computer Vision team at Johnson & Johnson. As a summer intern, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of state-of-the-arc AI/ML methods for medical image and video understanding. Specifically, your role will focus on utilizing advanced AI techniques to extract valuable insights from a wide range of medical imaging modalities such as endoscopy and ultrasound videos, X-rays, dermatology/skin images, retinal OCT scans, and histopathology slides as well as building foundation and multimodal models that generalize across these data types. By leveraging these cutting-edge technologies, you will enhance our understanding of medical conditions, procedures, and interventions, and ultimately help improve clinical trial efficacy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conceive, develop, and implement interviews with key internal clinical personnel to understand needs and use cases around AI tools for medical imaging and video;
  • Participate in cross-functional interviews, drive discussion and follow-up questions to interviewees, and compile answers into briefing reports;
  • Extract insights from a collection of briefing reports focusing on the business value of AI pipelines across therapeutic areas;
  • Design, develop, and evaluate computer vision and multimodal models on medical imaging and video data;
  • Clearly articulate highly technical methods and results to diverse audiences and partners to drive decision-making.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Ongoing Master's/PhD degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., physics, mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, or similar);
  • Demonstrated experience driving research in and applying computer vision techniques (e.g., Transformers, CNNs, RNNs, GANs);
  • Demonstrated experience with state-of-the-art techniques for image and/or video understanding (e.g., foundation models, transformers);
  • Proficiency with one or more programming languages such as Python or C++;
  • Extensive experience with traditional computer vision applications, such as OpenCV, object detection, edge detection, and image segmentation;
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms, including random forest, SVM, boosting, neural networks, etc.;
  • Strong publication record and ability to effectively communicate technical work to a wide audience;
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with medical imaging or video modalities, such as endoscopy, ultrasound, X-ray, dermatology/skin imaging, retinal OCT, or histopathology;
  • Experience with foundation models and/or multimodal AI;
  • Familiarity with and exposure to drug discovery and clinical development processes;
  • Experience working closely with healthcare professionals

Target Start Date:- 1st March 2027

Duration of the internship:- 6 months
